I'm looking over my army and I think my spawn are somewhat lack-luster at this point compared to the rest of the army.

I'm still super impressed by those armies you linked me. I've been trying to think of some super bad-ass theme I could come up with for mine. It was previously the Siege of Vraks, and the army was based on the Black Brethern of Ayreas. I'm somewhat pigeonholed based on my bases now. I'll give it some more thought. In the meanwhile, time to make those spawn look better!birduxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02411291132951494801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3024183850683212413.post-1248980886666822092013-07-06T12:53:48.394-04:002013-07-06T12:53:48.394-04:00Yeah, I get the frustration. I don't think an ...Yeah, I get the frustration. I don't think an army must all have the same colors, as I mentioned earlier. The models themselves have enough unifying elements that you can get away with different schemes. I've seen your army and it is something to be proud of for sure.

Sometimes though, you'll get critics that just don't see it the way you do. All you can do is respect their opinion, find out their reasons for it and decide whether to incorporate their feedback or not. Then we move on. I had my time in the tournament spotlight for army painting and I often saw armies that were painted with more basic techniques than mine, but won out in theme. My tau army really lacks a theme, it's just cool to look at I think. the key is visual interest. I think you are doing a good job to do so re: the nurglings everywhere! What an awesome idea! I have a few old school nurglings I could give you. Including one that is giving the viewer the bird!Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11680110160882762433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3024183850683212413.post-14411171650703321932013-07-06T12:39:31.976-04:002013-07-06T12:39:31.976-04:00Tim, I understand and appreciate the feedback. Per...Tim, I understand and appreciate the feedback. Perhaps I phrased what I meant incorrectly as well as overly harsh. I was less refering to the models overall story and more to the colors. It was more his/her lack of understand of why some models were green and some were red and negative feedback about them. This individual did not understand what differences between nurgle and khorne, and apparently felt a monotheme was a more appropriate army format. The models being colored correctly for their respective gods do help tell the story a bit, but it's not going to tell the complete story as you illustrated well.

That pirate army is amazingggggbirduxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02411291132951494801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3024183850683212413.post-79725239851286118912013-07-06T10:51:56.390-04:002013-07-06T10:51:56.390-04:00James, I really take issue with line of thinking:&...James, I really take issue with line of thinking:"My army makes absolute sense color scheme wise, and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot." I hope you're joking.

In terms of theme, if your models don't communicate theme on their own, then you've failed on theme other than "Chaos Army." If you have to explain your theme, you've failed. The models themselves should tell the story.

Take this is an example: http://www.gmmstudios.com/gallery/alpha/40k/CHAOS/index.php

Look at the scallywaggin army...did he need to explain his theme? No. Because he's successfully given his army a theme.

On to the criticisms of your army - they do seem strange since green and red go every well together and I personally do not subscribe to the idea that an army must be painted in 100% the same colors to achieve cohesion. I like to see some variety of paint schemes within an army, as long as their is harmony. Red and green are harmonious so I don't see why this gentleman had an issue with your army cohesion.
Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11680110160882762433noreply@blogger.com
